DALLAS—The global gluten-free product market is projected to reach $6.2 billion by 2018, representing a CAGR of 10.2%, according to a new report from MarketsandMarkets. North America is the largest market for gluten-free products, and Europe is expected to show significant growth in the market in the near future.

According to the report, gluten-free bakery and confectionery products account for 46% of total gluten-free products volume share, followed by gluten-free snacks at 20%.

The current trend of consuming free from products has added to the demand for gluten-free products. Digestive health reasons, weight management, and nutritional values are some of the other reasons that have been driving the gluten-free product market. Major demand in the gluten-free product market is anticipated to come from countries, including the United Kingdom, Italy, United States, Spain, Germany, Australia, Brazil, Canada and India. The growth is also attributed to increasing new product launches with additional nutrition, ingredients or flavor of gluten-free products in the market.

Written by Bruce MacDonald, a 30 year veteran of the Agri-food industry, in "Social Media Marketing in Agri-Foods: Endless Profit and Painless Gain", Bruce applies his background and expertise in Agri-foods and social media to the latest trends, tools and methodologies needed to craft a successful on-line campaign. While the book focuses on the Agri-food market specifically, I believe that many of the points Bruce makes are equally applicable to most other industries.
